ISO 2768, general tolerances
What is ISO 2768?
ISO 2768 is the international standard for general tolerances. It applies to every dimension on a drawing that has no tolerance of its own. So not every dimension needs its own tolerance, and designer and maker still know exactly where they stand.
The standard has two parts:
- ISO 2768-1 for linear and angular dimensions, in the classes f (fine), m (medium), c (coarse) and v (very coarse)
- ISO 2768-2 for form and position, such as straightness, flatness and perpendicularity, in the classes H, K and L
On a drawing this reads, for example, ISO 2768-mK.
